KBG 29 EMBRACE PONCHO

The pattern for the KBG 29 EMBRACE PONCHO is based on the EMBRACE shawl. I found this very fitting description for a garment you wrap around yourself in the English dictionary

EMBRACE: “To hold someone tightly with both arms to express love, liking, or sympathy, or when greeting or leaving someone” (Cambridge English Dictionary).

CONSTRUCTION

The EMBRACE PONCHO consists of one long piece of knitted fabric you fold in half and close with snap fastening buttons.

The piece is worked back and forth in rows in an overall lace pattern flanked by seed stitch panels at either side. Both short ends feature a ribbed edging where German short rows are worked across the side stitches at the very beginning and at the end of the piece to avoid the seed stitch sides drawing up next to the ribbing.

To close the poncho, snap fasteners are sewn onto the edges along one side, leaving an opening towards the fold.
