DESIGNER: KRISTIN BRYNJA

This SILK SLIPOVER worked in our einrúm PURE 100 % silk. Use the slipover as a deliciously slinky summer top, a luxurious undershirt or a vest over a thin blouse or shirt. The rib and seed stitch edges contrast the stocking stitch fabric nicely. In addition, working the front neckband sideways creates an identical edge to the armholes, unlike a traditional bind-off edge.

CONSTRUCTION

Work the slipover top-down, beginning at the upper back. Work the seed stitch edges along the armholes along with the main fabric for back and front. Work the neckband is at the end.

First, two small pieces of ribbing are worked for the bottom armholes. Work the upper back, initiating from an open cast-on forming the shoulder line, is worked back and forth to the bottom of the armholes. Finally, work the front neckline’s left and right sides from stitches along the open shoulder line cast-on.

The two sides of the front are joined by casting on stitches at the centre, and the front is worked downward to the base of the armholes. Inserting the pieces of ribbing at the armholes and joining front and back, the rest of the body is worked in the round, ending with a double-knit bottom band.

Finally, work the seed stitch neckband sideways onto the front, and a rib band like those at the armholes is worked to finish the back neck.
