CONSTRUCTION

The pants are worked in two pieces from the top down in a pattern of knit and purl stitches. First, the right piece is worked back and forth with short row shaping at the waist and increases to shape the hip and later the crotch. The piece is then joined to work the leg in the round. The leg is finished with an i-cord cast-off worked around a crocheted drawstring, which can be used to draw in the fabric at the ankles.

The left piece is worked to mirror the right piece. The two pieces are then sewn together along the crotch. Finally, stitches are picked up along the upper edge for the waistband, which is then knitted in the round, folded over, sewn to the wrong side, and provided with a wide elastic band.
