OUR YARN

Our yarn is unique, designed and developed by Kristin Brynja, founder of einrúm.
Below you can find more information about our yarn, and you can easily compare the different yarn types.

FIBER

We make our LAMB 2 yarn by combining an exquisite quality Merino Lambswool and one thread of Mulberry silk.  The LAMB 2 yarn is produced exclusively for einrúm by Henrichsen’s Uldspinderi in Denmark

YARDAGE

LAMB 2: 100 g hank makes 533 m (583 yds) that can be decided into to 50 g hanks.

NEEDLES

Our favourite needle size for the LAMB 2 yarn is 3 mm (US 2,5).

GAUGE

When worked on needle size 3 (US 2,5) the gauge is approximately 10 cm = 26 sts, 4 inch = 13 sts.

CARING

If possible, store your yarn in an airtight container until you work with it. When you have worked your garment, hand wash it when needed in lukewarm water. Optionally, spin using a short washing machine spinning cycle. Dry flat.

We make our E+2 yarn by combining Icelandic wool (Einband) and two threads of Mulberry silk together and the E+4 yarn by combining Icelandic wool (Einband) and four threads of silk together. The silk adds softness, strength and shine to the matt and rustic wool. einrúm designed and developed the E yarn. The E yarn is produced in Iceland, at Ístex exclusively for einrúm.

YARDAGE

E+2: 50 g skein makes 208 m (227 yds)
E+4: 50 g skein makes 179 m (195 yds)

NEEDLES

Our favourite needle size for the E yarn is 3,5 mm (US 4) to 4 mm (US 6).

GAUGE

When worked on needle size 3,5 makes 20 sts on 10 cm / (10 sts on 4 inches).

CARING

If possible, store your yarn in an airtight container until you work with it. When you have worked your garment, hand wash it when needed in lukewarm water. Optionally, spin using a short washing machine spinning cycle. Dry flat.

We make our L+2 yarn by combining Icelandic wool (Léttlopi) and two threads of Mulberry silk together and the L+4 yarn by combining Icelandic wool (Léttlopi) and four threads of silk together. The silk adds softness, strength and shine to the matt and rustic wool. einrúm designed and developed the L yarn. The L yarn is produced in Iceland, at Ístex exclusively for einrúm.

YARDAGE

L+2: 50 g skein makes 93 m (101 yds)
L+4: 50 g skein makes 86 m (94 yds)

NEEDLES

Our favourite needle size for the L yarn is 5 mm (US 8) to 6,5 mm (US 9).

GAUGE

When worked on needle size 5 (US8) the gauge is approximately
10 cm = 15 sts, 4 inch = 7,5 sts.

CARING

If possible, store your yarn in an airtight container until you work with it. When you have worked your garment, hand wash it when needed in lukewarm water. Optionally, spin using a short washing machine spinning cycle. Dry flat.
